Finding your favorite New Jersey dispensary doesn’t have to be complicated, it just takes a little research and exploration. Are you looking for the best New Jersey recreational dispensary with lower prices? Maybe a medical-only dispensary with laid-back vibes? What about a great selection of cannabis products available?

Elevate Holistics is here to give New Jersey residents a little bit of insight when it comes to top-rated dispensaries in the state. First off, are dispensaries open in New Jersey already?

Are Dispensaries Open in New Jersey?

Are there dispensaries in New Jersey? Yes! But are there recreational dispensaries in New Jersey?

In New Jersey, there are 24 total dispensaries that offer medical marijuana. Since medical marijuana was legalized in the state twelve years ago, NJ has finally seen some big changes.

Adult-use marijuana sales began in New Jersey on April 21, 2022, the day after cannabis enthusiasts’ favorite holiday. On the state’s first day of recreational cannabis sales, almost 12.5K customers bought nearly $2 million worth of recreational cannabis products, according to the state Cannabis Regulatory Commission

In the first month of legal adult-use cannabis in NJ, the state garnered $24 million over 212,433 transactions.

As of now, there are only 13 New Jersey dispensaries that sell recreational marijuana. Other medical marijuana dispensaries have been approved for recreational sales, and more are set to be approved soon.

Previously, medical dispensaries had to wait one year to expand into recreational sales.

Now, once a New Jersey dispensary has shown it can “serve patients and meet those expansion standards,” it is eligible to apply to be an adult-use dispensary in NJ.

Due to the limited number of New Jersey dispensaries, the revenue generated is lower than that of other states that have legalized cannabis. For example, New Mexico launched adult-use marijuana sales just weeks before NJ with over 100 dispensaries and made nearly $40 million.

Over time, we’re sure the number of dispensaries will grow.

For now, which ones are top-rated?

Top-Rated New Jersey Dispensaries

Are dispensaries open in New Jersey? Yes, residents can absolutely find a medical or recreational dispensary in New Jersey. But what dispensary in NJ is the best?

Let’s look into what other NJ residents have to say about the dispensaries in the state.

Keep in mind, these reviews are subjective and are likely to vary by personal experience. Feel free to switch up your dispensary visits, try different products, and make friends with staff to pick your favorite weed shop in NJ.

Sounds fun, right?

New Jersey Dispensary With Pleasant Atmosphere

When looking for the right New Jersey dispensary, it’s important to focus on the cannabis products they offer, their prices, and of course – the atmosphere. What’s better than feeling relaxed and making friends where you buy your weed?

Medical only:

  • Zen Leaf in Neptune, NJ: This Zen Leaf medical-only location has a Google rating of 4.6 from over 230 reviews. One reviewer said that this NJ dispensary always offers “a great experience” and that the staff will always put you in a better mood. Other reviews mention the great customer service, cleanliness, and wide selection of products.

Recreational:

  • Ascend in Rochelle Park, NJ: Ascend medical and recreational dispensary has a Google rating of 4.3 from over 150 reviews. The reviews mention that Ascend is very well organized, the staff is pleasant and helpful, and that the store is full of smiling people. One reviewer said that this location is “truly an experience.” Another wrote that when entering the parking lot, “you are greeted by an employee then directed to where parking is available.”
  • Apothecarium in Maplewood, NJ: Apothecarium is a Garden State dispensary that has a Google rating of 4.1 stars from nearly 160 reviews. One reviewer said that Apothecarium is their “favorite dispensary in NJ by far” and that the “staff is truly unmatched.” Other reviews said that the staff are helpful and have great personalities.

New Jersey Dispensary With a Wide Variety of Products

Finding a dispensary NJ with a large selection of cannabis products isn’t easy, especially with the state’s regulations on edibles. And for a recreational dispensary in New Jersey, the menus are even smaller.

It is not super common to come across a dispensary in NJ that sells concentrates, topicals, or tinctures – and even less common on the adult-use menus.

Medical only:

  • Zen Leaf in Elizabeth, NJ: Zen Leaf medical and recreational dispensary has a Google rating of 4.1 from over 450 reviews. Zen leaf sells flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, many types of edible candies, concentrates, one topical pain-relief lotion, two tinctures, and accessories. Reviews mention that the products are top-notch and that the staff is helpful and patient.
  • Harmony in Secaucus, NJ: Harmony is a New Jersey medical-only dispensary has a Google rating of 4.5 from over 1000 reviews. Harmony sells flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, lozenges, distillate syringes, a couple of topicals, at least one tincture, and plenty of accessories. Reviews mention that Harmony has a diverse product line and great prices.

Recreational:

  • Curaleaf in Bellmawr and Edgewater Park, NJ: Curaleaf’s two recreational locations have a 4.3 and 4.5 Google rating with nearly 3000 collective reviews. Because they sell multiple gummy/lozenge types of edibles and a couple of tinctures (along with flower, pre-rolls, and vapes), these Curaleaf locations might have the widest variety of cannabis products of any dispensary in New Jersey. Reviews mention Curaleaf has a “good selection of products for all kinds of ailments” and that the employees are “just the nicest.”

NJ Dispensary With Best Prices

Right now, prices at NJ dispensaries are high. Residents will find cheaper prices for medical marijuana at any dispensary in New Jersey, as recreational marijuana is always more expensive in the state.

Medical only:

  • Garden State in Woodbridge, NJ: This Garden State location has a Google rating of 4.0 from nearly 900 reviews. With eighths of high potency shake as cheap as $28, this dispensary often offers discounts. Reviews say that Garden State’s prices are “better than other dispensaries,” that the staff is friendly, and that they have a good selection of products.

Recreational:

  • RISE in Paterson, NJ: This Rise New Jersey dispensary has a 4.7 Google rating from more than 830 reviews. According to reviews, RISE has “better prices” and is cheaper than any other New Jersey recreational dispensary in the area. The reviews mention that the staff is helpful, provides the “best customer service,” and offers a “wonderful experience.” Still, an eighth of flower is typically $60.
