Who Can Get a Medical Marijuana Card in AR?

In order to qualify for a patient ID card in AR, you must:

  • Be 18 or older (minors can apply with parental consent)

    • Fibromyalgia
    • Alzheimer’s disease
    • Cachexia or wasting syndrome
    • Peripheral neuropathy
    • Intractable pain which is pain that has not responded to ordinary medications, treatment or surgical measures for more than six (6) months
    • Severe nausea
    • Seizures including without limitation those characteristic of epilepsy
    • Severe and persistent muscle spasms including without limitation those characteristic of multiple sclerosis
    • and any other medical condition or its treatment approved by the Department of Health

Steps for Getting an MMJ ID Card in Arkansas

1. Get Certified by a Doctor

In order for a physician to certify you for medical marijuana, they must be licensed and in good standing in the state of Arkansas. 2. Create an Account With ADH

  • Go to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) website and click on the red “Apply Online” button.
  • Click on the blue “Patient Registration” button.
  • Click on “New Patient Registration”.
  • Enter a valid email address and password (remember these because you will need them again).
  • Check your email for “Confirm Your Account” email (you may need to check your trash or spam folder).
  • Confirm your account.

3. Apply for Your Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card

You will need to complete an application. You can do this online or by mail. Online is recommended. But if you want to mail one in, you can find the patient application form here. You will need:

  • Your social security number
  • Your military status
  • To sign (electronically)
  • To upload a picture of your state ID
  • To upload a picture of your physician certification

4. Pay

When your application is complete, you will need to pay the $50.00 fee using a debit or credit card (American Express is not accepted). All fees are nonrefundable.

5. Print Your ID Card

In the next 10-14 days, check the status of your application. If approved, you may print your card. If you do not print your card, the ADH will mail it to you.

6. Visit an Arkansas Dispensary

Once you have your MMJ ID card, you’ll be ready to head to an Arkansas dispensary. Remember, in order to be protected under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act, your cannabis must be labeled from an Arkansas dispensary.
