Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Caregiver Process: How to Apply Quick and Easy

February 07, 2020

Applying for your medical marijuana caregiver license in Oklahoma is not hard, but it can be tedious if you don’t have all your ducks in a row when it’s time to apply. Missing information or an unacceptable photo could land you with an incomplete application. To avoid delays and more of your precious caregiving time being sucked away into a vortex of online bureaucracy, we’ve whipped up this quick and easy guide for getting it done right the first time.

Good to Know Info Before You Apply

  • The legal definition of a “caregiver means a family member or assistant who regularly looks after a licensed patient whom a physician certifies is homebound or needs assistance.

  • Coordinating with the Patient: With their application, the person you are the caregiver for will have already uploaded their Physician Recommendation Form. That form must certify that the patient has a need for a caregiver. When you apply, you will need to give the patient’s medical marijuana license number so that this can be confirmed.

  • For Adult Patients, you will need to have a completed and signed (by the patient) Adult Caregiver Designation Form.

  • For Minor Patients, you will need to have a completed and signed (by the patient’s parents or guardians) Minor Caregiver Designation Form. Only parents or guardians can be caregivers for minors.

  • An adult patient can have only one designated caregiver. A minor can have two caregivers (their legal parents/guardians).

  • Your caregiver license expires when the patient’s license expires. Patient licenses are good for two years.

  • There is no fee for a caregiver license. Nice!
