On June 28, 2019, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) began taking medical marijuana patient applications. More than 4,000 Missouri residents applied for their medical card that first month.
By the end of 2020, there were more than 68,000 Missouri medical marijuana patients, according to the Missouri Medical Marijuana Regulatory Program (MMRP) 2020 Annual Report. During that first full year, an average of 5,374 people filed to become Missouri medical marijuana program patients.
