If you’ve been considering getting your medical marijuana card in Cincinnati here are some things that you’ll need to know in order to get approved.

How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Cincinnati

If you’ve been trying to get a medical marijuana Cincinnati card you’ve likely searched online looking for information. And more than likely you’ve searched, “how do I get a medical marijuana card in Ohio” or “where to get a medical marijuana card near me”. These search results probably resulted in hundreds of medical marijuana doctors in Cincinnati.

It can be a bit confusing but getting a medical marijuana card in Cincinnati is simple. You’ll need to have a qualifying medical condition, schedule an appointment with a weed doctor, and complete your online application.

When scheduling your appointment to have your medical condition qualified by a licensed physician, be sure that you choose an approved medical marijuana doctor. The Medical Board has a list of Ohio physicians to choose from. At this visit, the doctor will determine if your medical condition qualifies you for a medical marijuana card.

Make sure you are prepared with proof of your Ohio residency. You’ll need an email address that you have access to, and a government-issued ID, Ohio driver’s license, or a US passport with your current address.

The doctor will send your certification through Ohio’s Patient and Caregiver Registry website. Once they receive your certification and information, you’ll get an email that contains an activation link. You’ll follow this link and complete your registration and pay a $50 non-refundable fee.

The doctor will certify you for a specific amount based on your medical conditions and it’s severity. This will be the amount you can purchase from a dispensary. However there are requirements that you’ll need to know, based on the specific amount you can possess up to eight ounces of approved THC products, but it must be a THC potency of less than 23%. A purchase of 5.3 ounces of THC products will need to have a THC potency between 23 and 35%.

  • Is marijuana legalized in Ohio?

For years, many people wondered “when will medical marijuana be legal in Ohio?” Marijuana has been proven to help with a wide variety of medical conditions, and there was a strong push to expand medical marijuana programs throughout the United States.

Does Ohio have medical marijuana?  In 2016, the state of Ohio voted to legalize marijuana for medical purposes only. The medical marijuana program made its first sales in 2019. The medical marijuana program in Ohio is very unique in that it prohibits smoking cannabis products, although it does allow users with a medical marijuana card to use vaporizers as well as edibles and other forms of marijuana.

Recreational marijuana is not currently legal in Ohio, although the state was one of the first to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana back in the 1970s. With the recent wave of cannabis legalizations around the country, many people wonder, “when will marijuana be legalized in Ohio for recreational purposes?”

There have been initiatives to legalize recreational marijuana in Ohio in the past, most notably in 2015. However, there were issues with the ballot measure and it ultimately failed. However, this did set a precedent for recreational marijuana initiatives and we could see this issue come up again in the future.

  • How much marijuana is a felony in Ohio?

Since marijuana is still decriminalized, you will only receive a fine if you are found in possession of small amounts. However, you could receive a felony charge if you are caught with over 200 grams of marijuana.

  • When will medical marijuana be available in Ohio?

Medical marijuana has been available in Ohio since 2019, which is when the first medical marijuana sales happened. Now that the medical marijuana program has been launched, residents with a medical marijuana card can visit any dispensary to get the products they need. Ohio currently has 58 dispensaries, but they will be expanding the program with 73 more licenses next year. Dispensaries are evenly distributed throughout each district in Ohio to provide equitable access.

  • What qualifies for a medical card in Ohio?

You might be wondering how to get a medical card in Ohio, or even some good excuses to get a medical card in Ohio. To qualify for a medical marijuana card, you will need to have one of 21 qualifying conditions defined by the state. The qualifying conditions for a medical card in Ohio include a wide variety of chronic health conditions, including cancerAlzheimer’s DiseasefibromyalgiaParkinson’s DiseasePTSDMultiple Sclerosis, and many others. However, Ohio is also very unique in that they have a provision for “pain that is chronic, severe, or intractable”, which gives patients some flexibility if they believe they could benefit from medical marijuana, but don’t have one of the qualifying conditions.

  • What are the reasons to get a medical card in Ohio?

Here are some of the reasons for a medical marijuanas card in Ohio. If you are struggling with a chronic medical condition, medical marijuana can help you manage it. There is scientific evidence that medical marijuana can help with things like pain, nausea, and more. In particular, it is a good alternative to other prescription painkillers because it does not come with harsh side effects.

Getting your medical marijuana card will allow you to purchase the cannabis products you need legally. Since marijuana is still illegal for recreational use in Ohio, you can face legal penalties if you are caught using it or distributing it without the proper qualifications. Having a medical card will give you the peace of mind you need to use marijuana safely. Additionally, having a medical card streamlines the distribution process, because you can go directly to your local dispensary. They will have a selection of products to choose from and will be able to help you find the one that is best for your needs.

  • How much is medical marijuana in Ohio?

In Ohio, the cost of medical marijuana can vary depending on the type and size of product you are buying, as well as the grower you are buying from. Since Ohio does not allow its patients to smoke marijuana, it isn’t sold in its flower form, which makes it hard to calculate the average price per gram. In general, products like edibles and tinctures are slightly more expensive than their flower counterparts, so patients should prepare to pay slightly more per product than they  would in another state.

It’s also important to note that there are fees associated with getting your medical marijuana card. The Ohio medical marijuanas registry charges applicants a fee of $50, although some patients may qualify for a reduced fee. You’ll also need to pay for your doctor’s consultation, as insurance plans will not cover it. Elevate Holistics offers online visits with medical marijuana doctors starting at $75.
