Here’s everything you need to know about getting a medical marijuana card in Columbus, Ohio.

Columbus Medical Marijuana Cards

Medical marijuana is now legal in Columbus, Ohio. Since the state legalized cannabis in 2016, there are many dispensaries and medical marijuana doctors in Columbus, Ohio that have popped up. The medical marijuana process in Columbus is the same as it is throughout the entire state of Ohio. Here’s what you need to know about medical marijuana in Columbus.

How Can I Get A Medical Marijuana Card In Columbus?

The process of getting a medical marijuana card in Ohio is much easier than it is in many other states. To get a Columbus medical marijuana card, you must have one of a number of qualifying chronic health conditions. The Columbus qualifying medical conditions are updated each year to reflect the most recent science.

If you have one of these qualifying medical conditions, you can get a card through a licensed medical marijuana doctor. Not all doctors in Ohio are licensed to verify you for a medical marijuana card, so it’s important to make sure that you go to a doctor with the appropriate licensing. Once your doctor has approved that you have one of the qualifying medical conditions, they will create a profile for you in Ohio’s Patient & Caregiver Registry. Once that profile has been created, you will get an email to complete your registration. During this process, you will need to confirm your identity and provide proof of residency. Afterward, it will be sent to the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control program for review. Once your application has been approved, your card will be sent to you in the mail.

To verify your identity, you’ll need an Ohio driver’s license, state ID card, or US passport. You will also need to pay a $50 fee for patients or $25 fee for caregivers in order to get your card.

Where Can I Get A Medical Marijuana Card in Columbus?

You can get a medical marijuana card from any qualifying medical marijuana doctor that is licensed with the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control program. While many medical marijuana doctors offer in-person appointments, you can also have an appointment with a medical marijuana doctor online. Elevate Holistics offers fast and affordable online appointments with a medical marijuana doctor online. All appointments are completely secure and HIPAA compliant.

More dispensaries could open in the future as the Ohio medical marijuana program expands.

What To Expect When Visiting A Columbus Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Many people wonder what to expect when visiting a medical marijuana dispensary in Columbus. You’ll only be able to go inside if you are a registered medical marijuana patient or caregiver. Once inside, you will answer questions about any medical conditions you may have, and the staff will help you find the right products for your needs. Your doctor may also have recommended specific products, which you can ask for when you go to the dispensary.

Columbus Medical Marijuana Doctors

Many people assume that all doctors in Ohio can prescribe medical marijuana, but this isn’t the case. Doctors have to be licensed by the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control program in order to approve patients for a medical marijuana card. At Elevate Holistics, our doctors are medical marijuana experts and can help you find the products and treatment regiment that is right for you.

Can I Have A Caregiver in Columbus?

Underage patients and patients who are not physically able to visit dispensaries on their own can designate a caregiver to buy medical marijuana for them. The process for becoming a caregiver is relatively simple – the patient needs to be assessed by a medical marijuana doctor, and then the doctor will submit both the patient and caregiver for approval. The caregiver can then visit the dispensary and transport the marijuana to the patient. Patients can have up to two caregivers, and one can only serve as a caregiver for up to two patients.

How Much Medical Marijuana Can I Possess In Columbus?

Medical marijuana patients in Ohio can possess up to a 90-day supply for marijuana at one time. Medical Cannabis Certification for Ohio

Why Medical Marijuana Doctors are Necessary.

The vast majority of doctors don’t have a great understanding of cannabinoids due to a woefully archaic medical schooling system. In fact, most medical schools don’t even offer classes on the endocannabinoid system! This is the system in the body that interacts with THC, CBD, and other phytocannabinoids in cannabis. Crazy, right? While this is changing, the majority of doctors in America can’t truly point people in the right direction when it comes to cannabis as a medicine. This is where Elevate Holistics comes in by offering you a full staff of healthcare professionals that can take you from CBD to THC, to pharmaceutical interactions, and treatment plans. Make sure to ask your physician and Elevate staff anything on your mind so we can get you the resources you need to Elevate your health naturally.
