So, it’s time to renew your Oklahoma medical marijuana card, and you go to hit up your original physician for approval—and Poof! They’re gone. No online presence. No physical office. If losing your cannabis doctor has thrown a wrench in your medical marijuana ID card renewal process, don’t worry. In this post, we’re going to guide you through getting back on track to your medical cannabis certification. First let’s do a quick review of what medical marijuana patients need to do to renew in Oklahoma.
When to Renew Your OK MMJ ID Card
The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) will not let you submit/pay for a renewal if it is more than 30 days until your medical card expires. We recommend renewing as close to the 30-day mark as possible, so you don’t have to wait around with an expired card.
If you can’t find your original medical marijuana doctor, don’t worry. Fortunately, you can get a same-day appointment with Elevate.
What You Need to Renew Your MO Medical Marijuana Card
You must have the original email and password that you used to apply with the first time. If that email is no longer an option or you forgot your password, you must call the OMMA call center at (405) 522-6662.
Your renewal application should include A new physician certification form with the physician’s signature dated no more than 30 days prior to the renewal application submission date.
Also include any documents that support changed information on your application. For example, if your address changed, you will need to upload a new document proving your residency. If not, the original documents proving your residency still apply.
How to Create a Renewal Application:
Once you have your physician recertification, you can begin the renewal process by going to the OMMA homepage.
Select the orange RETURNING APPLICANTS button. This takes you to a page where you can sign into your existing account. Again, you must use the original email and password you created the account with. If you cannot, call the OMMA call center at (405) 522-6662.
Once in, click on LICENSE DASHBOARD in the column on the left.
When your license information shows up, click on the ACTION button, and select PATIENT RENEWAL.
Your license number will come up on the screen. Select it and hit the SAVE button.
For confirmation, the next screen will show the same license number. Simply click on the SAVE & NEXT button.
On this page, you will need to make sure your information is correct. Also, you will need to select your form of ID and enter in the ID number.
Verify Your Patient Information
Hitting the SAVE & NEXT button then takes you to the contact screen. Verify your physical and mailing addresses. Your physical address must be an Oklahoma address and can not be a PO Box. Your mailing address may be different and is where your renewed license will be sent. Make sure it is correct before clicking SAVE & NEXT.
The next page is for your physician’s information. Keep in mind that the date of your physician’s signed recommendation can not be more than 30 days from the time you are submitting your renewal. Also, make sure you enter the physician address that the doctor put on the recommendation. Hit SAVE & NEXT to move on.
A page of questions comes up next. If you select YES for Medicare or Medicaid or disabled veteran, you will need documentation as proof. Your application could be denied without it.
You can use the same documents as before to prove your identity and residency. Upload new documents if this has changed.
Uploading Documents (If Anything Has Changed)
SAVE & NEXT will take you to the screen to upload any needed documents (photo, ID, doctor recommendation, etc.). The screen will prompt you about what to upload.
Finally, you will need to pay. Before you do, you will have a chance to review and edit your information. Payment is by credit card. Patient renewal is $100 with a $4.30 service fee. Disabled veterans’ renewal fee is $20.

What If You Can’t Find Your Doctor?
If the cannabis doctor you previously used for your physician certification is no longer available, you will need to use a new doctor. Also, be sure to change your physician information and any other information that has changed, such as your qualifying condition, because your renewal application will need to match your doctor certification form.
Physician Recertification Before 30-Days to Expiration
If you obtain a physician recertification in the 30-day window to renew, it should be smooth sailing into your Oklahoma medical card renewal, as long as you changed all pertinent information. Remember, the information on any new documents you attach must match the information that is on your application.
You Can’t Find Your Doctor and Your Medical Card Expires
If your medical card expires before you get your physician recertification and are able to submit your renewal, you will need to re-register as a patient.

- Your new physician recommendation form, signed by the doctor within the last 30 days
- Digital Photo
- Proof of Identity
- Proof of residency
- If applicable, proof of Medicaid, Medicare, and/or Disabled Veteran Status
- Payment: Visa, MC, Discover, or a debit card
To create an online account:
- Visit http://omma.ok.gov/ and click “APPLY NOW”
- Register an account with your new email address
- Wait for your verification email and click “verify”
- Fill out your application and upload required documents
- Pay and submit
